Is that the right way to abbreviate “little”? I don’t think it is, but if I waste any more time trying to figure it out, I will never get this post done!
I am not an especially accomplished knitter, but I do love the feeling of those yummy yarns in my fingers, and I am obsessed with knitting patterns. As long as they don’t involve sleeves, thumbs, fingers, or any other “challenging” aspects. At least, not today.
Last year I picked up a project to make a chevron afghan for our eldest daughter, which opened the door for several other projects. I really struggled to knit the project and get the truly deep chevron I was looking for, so on that project I used crochet. It went fast, and I actually made two of them. It still didn’t resolve my desire to knit a chevron pattern. That, along with the announcement of a new grandchild from our second eldest child, led to this lovely bit of knit.
This pattern comes from purlbee.com, and you can click here for the pattern. It’s a lovely pattern, but honestly, I was scared of the color change. Besides, I didn’t know the sex of the baby yet, so white seemed reasonable for a little one.
I couldn’t believe I actually finished this little beauty since I have never completed a knit project larger than a scarf! Don’t get me wrong, I love me some knit scarves, but this made me feel pretty good.
In fact, I felt good enough about it to try something a little more challenging. Well, at least it was challenging to me!
So, I dove in, and here’s what came out! A little Ziggity Zig for a little guy with some serious cuteness going on- little Caleb. I totally loved making this blankie, and look forward to making another one!
